Wie zijn wij?

 

Solidarity with OTHERS is een niet-gouvernementele organisatie die in Brussel is opgericht met als doel de mensenrechten in Turkije en elders te verdedigen en te bevorderen.

Ons team bestaat voornamelijk uit politieke bannelingen uit Turkije en Europese burgers die zich als oprichters, medewerkers of vrijwilligers hebben aangesloten.

Onze naam weerspiegelt onze vaste verbintenis om solidair te zijn met iedereen die onderworpen is aan schendingen in Turkije; ongeacht ras, geloofsvertuiging, sociale binding of politieke opvattingen.

We zijn er vast van overtuigd dat we alleen maar zo menselijk zijn als we in staat zijn om op te komen voor de rechten en vrijheden van ANDERS, en niet alleen voor onszelf.

Wat doen we?

Ons werk bestaat er in de eerste plaats in ervoor te zorgen dat schendingen van de rechten in Turkije niet onopgemerkt blijven.

Om dit te bereiken, stellen wij rapporten, factsheets en nieuwsbrieven op over belangrijke mensenrechtenkwesties, schendingen van rechten en ontwikkelingen die zorgen baren in Turkije, met het oog op het informeren van de publieke opinie.

We organiseren of nemen deel aan bewustmakingsevenementen zoals tentoonstellingen, conferenties, rondetafelgesprekken en demonstraties om mensenrechtenschendingen onder de aandacht te brengen en er bij de autoriteiten op aan te dringen actie te ondernemen om deze te stoppen.

Tot slot onderhouden wij contacten met de Europese instellingen, met name het Europees Parlement en de Europese Commissie, met als doel de rol van de mensenrechten in de betrekkingen tussen Brussel en Ankara te ondersteunen.

Yavuz Altun

Voorzitter

Journalist and editor, Yavuz Altun holds a bachelor's degree in cultural studies from Sabancı University in Istanbul. He had worked for the now-closed Zaman newspaper between 2009 and 2016 in Turkey.  Altun continues his profession as a freelance journalist and he is involved in projects related to the promotion of press freedom.

İsa Yılmaz

Bestuurslid

Educator and project development specialist, İsa Yılmaz holds a bachelor's degree in English from the Payap University in Thailand. He is now completing his master's degree in business administration from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium. Yılmaz is in charge of social media and public relations and he is also involved in the organization of awareness events and campaigns as well as coordination of institutional partnerships and cooperation with other NGOs.

Melike Genç

Juridisch adviseur

Melike Genç is a lawyer with a bachelor's degree in law from the İstanbul University and a master's degree in public law from the Yıldırım Beyazıt University in Turkey. She is involved in projects related to judicial independence, rule of law and monitoring of hate speech.

Delphine de Hemptinne

EU Project Coordinator

Delphine de Hemptinne holds her bachelor’s degree in human and social sciences and political science at the Université libre de Bruxelles in Belgium and her master's Degree in international politics at Leiden University in the Netherlands. She is involved in the European Union projects and also participates in the OTHERS TV project.

Nurullah Albayrak

Bestuurslid

Lawyer and specialist of human rights law, Nurullah Albayrak is a member of the bar associations of Ankara and Brussels. He holds a bachelor's degree in law from the İstanbul University and a master's degree in public law from the Atılım University in Turkey. Albayrak follows projects related to judicial independence, rule of law and monitoring of hate speech.

Ali Dinçer

Secretaris-generaal

Formerly a diplomat for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ali Dinçer holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the Galatasaray University in Turkey. He is generally responsible for the day-to-day follow up of the organizational activities; in particular the institutional contacts with other NGOs and European Union institutions, organization of awareness events and campaigns and the drafting of regular and special reports as well as the weekly newsletter.

Seyit Ecirli

Juridisch adviseur

Seyit Ecirli is a lawyer with a bachelor's degree in law from the Gazi University in Turkey and a master's degree in public and international law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium. He is involved in projects related to judicial independence, rule of law, monitoring of hate speech as well as migrant and refugee rights. He also takes part in the OTHERS TV project.

Yüksel Kaya

Bestuurslid

Human rights activist and educator, Yüksel Kaya is the Chair of European Professionals Network (EPN) in Brussels. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics from the Marmara University in Turkey and a master's degree with a specialization on migrant integration from the Islamic University of Europe in the Netherlands. Kaya takes part in the organization of awareness events and campaigns as well as coordination of institutional partnerships and cooperation with other NGOs.

Yasemin Aydın

Voorlichtingsambtenaar

A German-Turkish social anthropologist and social psychologist, Yasemin Aydın conducts research on topics such as transcultural and transnational identities in heterogeneous societies, politicization of otherness and socio-political dynamics of inclusive societies. A feminist and human rights activist, she has established several youth projects in the fields of gender equality, diversity competence, human rights, fight against extremism and sustainable development. 

Nurşah Tutar

Stagiair

Nurşah Tutar is currently completing her bachelor's degree in law from the Haute École Bruxelles-Brabant in Belgium. She takes part in the coordination of institutional partnerships and cooperation with other NGOs. She also participates in the OTHERS TV project.
